Springboard to Learning & Young Audiences of St. Louis is seeking content specialists and teaching artists to present in-school programs during the 2008-09 school year. Programs must be multi-disciplinary and hands-on. They should engage and inspire students and build confidence in their abilities. Programs may be in the form of workshops (one time experiences) or residencies (in-depth programs that take place over days or weeks).

We are particularly interested in hiring applicants in the following areas:
  • Writing programs such as creative writing, poetry writing, fiction writing, playwriting, biographical, and autobiographical writing
  • Fiber art / weaving programs
  • Cultures of other lands programs taught by natives and/or those who have experienced a culture first-hand. Lesson topics might include household routines, festivals, music, dress, language, and food. We are especially interested in Latin and Asian cultures.
  • Investigative science programs that are multidisciplinary and expose students to the tools and skills of a scientist. We also interested in programs that integrate science and the arts.
  • Early childhood programs that encourage listening skills, stimulate the imagination, and help children develop critical thinking skills. These are cross-curricular programs that might include storytelling, music, and movement activities.
Applications are due May 1, 2008 and interviews will take place in May. Qualified applicants will be asked to teach a sample lesson from their proposed curriculum. If you are interested in the position, call 314.289.4132 to request an application.
